If you look closely at this picture, you can see murals painted on the outside and inside of this gazebo. This "gazebo" actually spans over 1.5 miles (as a single structure) and the entire surface (inside and out) is intricately hand-painted with murals on every surface, including the structural beams. Though the structure itself is small compared to some of the palace buildings or the Great Wall, this structure itself is a marvel - and a beautiful one at that. Here, Yingzi and her mom are taking a well deserved break. We have already walked well over a mile inside the Summer Palace's gardens. And, this covered walkway gave nice relief from the sun and the cool breeze from the lake made it even better.
